Have you ever considered finding a niche that’s profitable for affiliate marketing?
There are many ways to get started in affiliate marketing:
- Social media
- Advertising etc.
But the most important thing for a sustainable affiliate marketing business is to choose a niche that can give you a passive income for years.
Choosing an affiliate niche is imperative if you want to succeed in this business.
I will explain to you some of these ways in this blog so that you can figure out how I selected a micro niche for myself and am operating a successful affiliate marketing business from which I get a passive income every month.
But before that, it is essential to know what a niche and micro-niche are?
What are a Niche and Micro Niche?
A niche refers to the topic you write or talk about, and all your talk revolves around that topic.
For example, I teach you affiliate marketing through this blog, so my niche will be “Affiliate Marketing”.
Similarly, if you share fashion-related things, your niche will be fashion.
But apart from niche, the term micro niche is also used a lot, which bloggers often ignore while choosing a niche.
Micro-niche is also a niche but in a minor form.
When it comes to a niche, we talk about topics like health, travel, business, but in the case of micro-niche, we talk about their smaller topics.
Let me simplify it.
If we talk about health & fitness niche, then its micro-niche can be something like this:
- Weight loss
- Weight gain
- Diet plan
- Keto diet etc.
Now, if I talk about myself, this blog is not a niche but a micro-niche blog because here I only talk about affiliate marketing which comes into the “Make Money Online” niche.
I hope you will get me.
Let’s take a look at the steps you can use to choose a profitable niche for affiliate marketing.
How to Find a Profitable Niche for Affiliate Marketing?
When I started looking for a niche for my new affiliate blog, I used the same strategy that made me a successful affiliate marketer today.
This complete guide to choosing the best niche for affiliate marketing is based on my personal experience.
Here is a step-by-step process you can follow, all you need is a piece of paper and a pen to get started.
Consider the following steps:
- Step #1: Your interest
- Step #2: Your expertise
- Step #3: Monetization potential
- Step #4: Audience interest/traffic potential
- Step #5: Competition
- Step #6: Problems you can solve
- Step #7: Evergreen Topics
- Step #8: Content creation opportunity
By following all these steps one by one, you can find a profitable niche.
Let’s start with the step #1.
Step #1: Your Interest
What are your interests? What are you passionate about?
To choose the best niche for affiliate marketing, you have to ask yourself these questions.
By creating an affiliate blog in a particular niche, passive income can be made only if you are interested in doing it.
You must have probably heard from every expert out there that you should choose the niche that you are passionate about.
That’s because if you have chosen a niche in which you are not interested at all, then after a while, you will not be able to write more content on that topic.
Making a blog successful is a time-consuming process, and in this long journey you need to have a relationship with your blog, which is possible only if you are interested in it.
Take a piece of paper and a pen, in which write down all the interests that you like to do, one by one, such as:
- Playing cricket or talking about sports
- Watching movies
- Listening to songs
- Playing video games etc.
This list can be very long, and you have to make it very thoughtfully by taking all your time.
If you are not able to understand what you are interested in (which happens to everyone, even it occurred to me when I chose the niche), then you can take the help of the following points:
Look around you, house, wall, room etc.
Take an idea from your daily life, what do you do throughout the day? please make a list of it
If you read newspapers or magazines, which news do you like to read more, also consider it
And in this way, you will be able to start making a list. It would be best if you took enough time to make this list because your niche will be one of these.
Step #2: Your Expertise
After making a list in the first step, you have to sort out the topics you are an expert in.
In this list, you should also write down those topics in which you are not an expert, but you have a lot of knowledge about that topic.
Like if I talk about me:
- I am an expert in writing
- I know how to use the internet
- I know search engine optimization
- I’m an expert in advising people (it’s true)
- I am an expert in using social media etc.
This list may be very long for me, but I have told you a way by which you can easily make this list.
Apart from this, you can check your Google history to get some topics in which you have some knowledge.
Note:- You can skip this step if you outsource the content instead of writing by yourself on your blog. But choose this option only keeping in mind the cost of outsourcing.
Step #3: Monetization Potential
Now you have to check the monetization potential of the niche.
You have to see whether the niche you will work on is profitable or not.
For this, you can also look at different affiliate programs to know which products get more commission.
It will give you an idea of which niche products get more commission.
Apart from this, you can also take the help of Google.
In Google, you have to search all the niches included in the list and see how many affiliate programs are related to that niche? And what percentage commission are they paying?
For this, Googling “[niche] + affiliate program.”
With this, it will be easy for you to get an idea about the profitability of the niche.
People often choose a niche that is not profitable; as a result, they burn out after a point.
So you need to consider this step for choosing a profitable niche for affiliate marketing.
Step #4: Audience Interest / Traffic Potential
It is a very simple step.
You will be successful in a business if people are interested in it.
Let’s take an example.
If you’re going to write about how you eat your meal or wear your pants, do you think people want to know about these topics?
No, You’re not Cristiano Ronaldo.
You’re just a blogger trying to turn his passion into a few hundred or thousand bucks business.
In a nutshell, you have to choose a niche people are talking about.
The best option to find such a niche is a keyword research tool.
When you research a niche in a tool, you will get to know its traffic.
SEMrush is one of the best keyword research tools out there.
If you do not want to use the paid tool, you can also use Google keyword planner.
It is a free tool and provides you with absolutely accurate data.
Apart from this, you can also take the help of Google.
Googling your niche and see how many search results related to that niche are shown.
For instance, if you search “best credit cards,” you will get to see millions of search results.
With this, you will know the traffic potential of that niche.
Also, check the website coming in the top results to see if any big authoritative sites are ranking in them or not.
But why do you need to check these authoritative sites?
Because authoritative sites only write about a topic in which people are interested.
So keep an eye on them.
Step #5: Competition
Before choosing any niche, it is important to know its competition, lest you come across such websites which are working in this field for years.
In this step, you have to find low competitive niches.
You cannot rank on Google for a high competitive keywords so try to identify those niches who have high traffic volume but low competition.
A keyword research tool will help you a lot in this step.
Step #6: Problems You Can Solve
This is very interesting.
Affiliate marketing is all about solving problems.
People often think of it as just a way to earn money, but if you cannot solve someone’s problem, you will not be able to last long in this business.
For example, suppose you go to the gym every day and exercise.
Many people go to the gym who do not know how to use gym equipment or machines, so you can help them in this matter.
Now, if you have a piece of good knowledge about gym equipment, you can feel free to set up an affiliate blog on it, where you can give information to people about these types of equipment and promote them.
This is just a example, but you must have understood what I want to say.
You should remove that niche from your list which is not solving anyone’s problems.
Step #7: Evergreen Topics
If you want to make affiliate marketing a sustainable business, you must work in a niche that is evergreen, such as:
- Health & fitness
- And so much more
It might not be a good idea to choose a niche that is trending overnight.
Because such niches often go out of trend after a while (e.g., fidget spinner), which is not good niches for affiliate marketing at all.
Through this blog, I focus on turning your affiliate marketing into a sustainable business.
I do not want you to think of affiliate marketing as just a way of making money because this business has changed my life, and I know how much potential it has.
So choose only such niche, which is evergreen.
The best tool to find such a niche is google trend.
Here you search the niche and see the trends of the last five years.
If their trend is consistent, keep it on your list, and if the trend of any topic is not consistent, then avoid choosing it.
For example, if you look at the “Paleo diet” trend, you will find that its trend has been declining year after year for the last five years.
So avoid choosing such a niche.
Step #8: Content Creation Opportunity
If you choose a niche in which you do not have much to write, you will never succeed.
For instance, what do you think if you chose the niche “avengers cellphone case”?
How many articles will you can write in this niche?
Will you be able to succeed in this?
Instead, choose a niche where you have enough opportunity to write content.
And in this way, you will be able to choose a niche that will benefit affiliate marketing.
